ATHLETICS ONTARIO APPOINTS KOLTON KOWALCHUK AS HIGH PERFORMANCE MANAGER

October 17, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Toronto, Ontario – October 17, 2017

Athletics Ontario (AO) is pleased to announce that Kolton Kowalchuk will be joining the AO staff in the role of High Performance Manager on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.

Kowalchuk’s previous experience in high performance sport has given him the skills and abilities to take on this role. His primary responsibilities will be managing the Quest for Gold and Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative athlete support programs. He will also be responsible for developing a high performance strategy to ensure we are giving Ontario athletes and coaches the best opportunities to succeed on a national and international level.

Prior to joining AO, Kolton worked at Golf Canada as the High Performance Sport Coordinator, where he was the primary point of contact for more than 25 Team Canada athletes. He managed the Athlete Assistance Program, Quest for Gold, and other Sport Canada/Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport athlete funding programs. Additionally, while studying in University, he assisted with Special Events and Game Day Operations for the Carleton Ravens, including OUA and CIS sanctioned events.

Kowalchuk has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law from Carleton University where he spent his four years playing for the Raven’s men’s golf team, heading up that team as Captain in his final two years.

“I am thrilled to welcome Kolton to the team here at Athletics Ontario”, said Ross Ste-Croix, Athletics Ontario’s Executive Director. “His experience in the Canadian sport system, particularly in his work with high performance athletes will serve him well in this role. The addition of a high performance manager will give AO much needed capacity to better serve our current HP athletes as well as plan for the future.”
