The qualifying deadline was March 7th, 2016; 10 women and 11 men met the qualification standard of 1:16:00 and 1:06:00 respectively (see full list of athletes HERE). The top three declared and available athletes were selected for the team - Athletics Canada named six athletes that will represent Canada at Championships:

The IAAF Half Marathon Championships team is funded in partnership with Athletics Canada’s national 10km (Ottawa Race Weekend), Half Marathon (Calgary Marathon) and Marathon (Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon) road Championships in Ottawa, Calgary and Toronto respectively.
