This weekend, Athletics Ontario will host its final event of the Indoor season. The Flying Angels Track Club will again, be the co-host for the event. We are looking forward to one of our biggest meets of the year, where we will have nearly 1,000 of our best bantam, midget, and junior athletes come out and compete.
As always, you can find all important event information/updates, including the schedule, technical package and performance list, on our Championship page.
NOTE: There have been a number of changes to the schedule this week and we want to ensure that all of our athletes are on time and ready for their events. Please check the Championship page to find the most up to date schedule.
Athletes to Watch for:
Jillian Catton
Jillian competed on the Midget Dual team last month at our second indoor meet. She was a member of the relay team which set a new composite provincial record and we are highly anticipating her performances this weekend.
Izzy Goudros
At our last meet, Izzy participated on the Midget Dual team. She ran a time of 8.77 seconds in the Midget girls 60m Hurdles, therefore tying the current provincial record. She is one of the top female U16 sprinters that we will have in attendance this weekend.
Alyssa Marsh
Alyssa is the fastest 60m U20 sprinter! Her current time has her ahead of the second fastest by 0.2 seconds. She is expected to be a top performer at this meet in both this event and the 200m.
Abdullahi Hassan
Earlier this year, Abdullahi set a new Men’s 600m Indoor record! He’s registered to compete at this meet and is the top seed for the U20 Men’s 800m.
Rianna Smuk
Last year, at this meet, Rianna set a Bantam record in the 2,000m and we are expecting her to do so once again. Her time of 6:50.84 set the U13 record, and to beat the U14 record she only needs to run the race in less than 6:48.83.
Sam Hall
Sam is a highly anticipated high jumper. He took home a silver medalist at the Commonwealth Youth Games last year, and we expect him to be a top performer at our event.
Josh Linington
Josh attended our Midget Dual Meet, competing in both the weight throw and shot put. He set a new provincial record in the Midget Boy’s weight throw with a throw of 20.23m.
