2021 Harry Jerome Scholarship Award Recipients Announced!

Congratulations to Olivia Lundman, Matti Erickson and Ella Foster
The Harry Jerome Scholarship is an annual award presented by BC Athetics and funded by the Vancouver Foundation to high school graduates who have demonstrated athletic excellence in track and field, community leadership and have committed to a post secondary instutition in 2021/2022 and to pursue their academic and athletic goals. BC Athletics is excited to announce this year's recipients:
Olivia Lundman of the Nanaimo Track and Field Club and Dover Bay Secondary, continues to excel in the Race Walk events. In 2019, Olivia represented Canada at the U18 NACAC Race Walking Cup, and USA vs. Canada U20 Race Walk Match. In 2020, Olivia set a new National Record in the 3000m Race Walk with a time of 14:25.74. This season, Olivia has set a new personal best in the 5000m race walk event. Olivia will be attending UBC next fall to study Kinesiology and be a member of the UBC Thunderbirds Varsity Track and Field Program.
Ella Foster of Royal City Track and Field Club and New Westminster Secondary School, continues to grow in the Pole Vault, winning the BC High School Provincial Championship in 2019. After minimal competitions in 2020, she has set new personal bests and set a new U20 BC Provincial Record jump of 3.82m so far in 2021. Ella is looking forward to pole vaulting and studying Kinesiology at York University in Toronto next fall.
Matti Erickson of the Kootenay Chaos Track Club and LV Rogers Secondary School excels in the middle distance events and on the cross country course. Matti set a new 1500m personal best at the 2021 Pacific Distance Carnival, clocking a time of 3:53.64. He is looking forward to continuing his running career at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon next fall, and focusing his studies on general sciences to puruse his career aspirations of becoming a physiotherapist.
