2023 AO Club Funding: Grassroots Programs

Funding Support Available:
- An estimated total of $24,000 (Funding to be distributed to Member Track & Field Clubs and Athletics organizations)
OVERVIEW
Athletics Ontario is launching a funding program to support Athletics Ontario member clubs and race organizations in the delivery of grassroots programs. Selected clubs must meet the Eligibility Criteria and can describe how they possess Capacity and ability to meet the program objectives and deliverables.
PROCESS:
AO will develop a process for member organizations to submit an application to receive monetary support based in alignment with Athletics Ontario’s 2022-27 Strategic Plan.
After the application deadline, AO will review and confirm that each application meets the above requirements and then work with each successful club to provide EFT or cheque payments.
The amount funded to clubs will be dependent, in part, by the number of applications received, and alignment with the criteria, and expected outcomes and deliverables. The minimum amount is expected to be $1,000 and the maximum amount is expected to be $3,000 per club.
Program Objectives and Deliverables:
- Enhance Opportunities targeted to support Underserved and Remote Communities*
- Increase AO Membership in the U8, U10 and U12 age categories
- Increase participation in AO events in the U8, U10, and U12 age categories
- Increase the number of events and activities that are Fun, Community-building and support Long Term Athlete Development.
- Increase awareness of the accessibility of Athletics
- Ensure events are “fun”
*Underrepresented populations served:
- Ethnic or Religious Minorities
- Para Athletes and Athletes with a Disability (AWAD)
- Girls & Women
- Indigenous Peoples
- LGBTQ+
- Low-Income Individuals
- Newcomers to Canada or Refugees
Key dates:
- Applications Open: Wednesday, May 17, 2023
- Application Deadline: 11:59 pm on Friday, June 2, 2023
- Funding Confirmation: Monday, June 12, 2023
- Activities must take place between June 1-August 31, 2023
Payment Schedule for successful applicants:
- Initial Funding payment (50%): June 12, 2023
- Second payment (25%): Upon confirmed sanction of proposed activities or events
- Final Payment (25%): Upon successful project completion and submission of the Summary Project Report
NOTE: Athletics Ontario will waive any Sanction fees as approved under this program
